Size – the average male are 2.4m and the average female are 3.3m
Mako sharks can reach the length of 4m
Characteristics – metallic blue couloration on the skin and a white belly.
Mako sharks have long pointy teeth and not triangular, serated teeth like the Blue Sharks and Great Whites.
Diet - small schooling fish, squid and octopus, tuna, swordfish and some species of dolphin.
Reproduction - Makos reproduce via aplacental viviparity. The pups are cannibalistic in the womb. On average, 10 -12 pups are born in each litter and are about 2 feet (0.6 m) long at birth.
Risk to humans - The Mako is considered dangerous and there have been attacks on people. |
